Yahoo Love, but Google Still Hates Us

Wow!  We are getting crazy love the last couple of days from Yahoo.  We have been for awhile on terms like squirting and “female ejaculation” (don’t ask me why), but now we have really climbed the ranks on all terms related to swingfest, such as swingfest, “swingfest 2008″, “swingfest 2009, etc…

As a matter of fact we are front page on all searches and top five on most even ahead of the official Swingfest stuff.  All the hits are linking to our daily trip reports we filed while at Swingfest last year.  If it keeps up we will probably break another traffic record today on gentlenibbles.

It almost makes waking up early after a loooooong night of play to type our reports while at Swingfest worth it!

Google on the other hand as of January 5th has decided they don’t care for us much.  Our traffic died that day and is slowly improving but still about a tenth of what they use to refer.  Also it seems all of our backlinks are slowly disappearing from Google eyes.  Even though we have thousands according to all the other search engines, Google is only seeing fifteen right now.  What is crazy is the fact it is not even recognizing our DMOZ link, which is kind of the Holy Grail of backlinks due to the toughness to obtain one.

The Good news is even with all the “no-love” from Google we are still growing at a steady pace thanks to the other search engines and the fact are subscriber count goes up on a daily basis.  In the end I am sure it will all work out.

Today is a Record Setting Day on Gentle Nibbles

Today was a record setting day for unique visitors and pageviews at Gentlenibbles.com.  Thanks to a good bit of traffic we received from http://world-sex-news.com.  Today our article on the Monogamous House Party was featured on their main blog page and referred 192 visitors from that article alone.  I had no idea their site was getting that kind of traffic.

This comes as gentlenibbles comes off its two strongest months back to back since its birth about a year and a half ago.  This is really good news to help counter the frustration we have seen over the last few weeks from Google.  For some reason about four weeks ago Google cut the amount of referrers it was sending by over ninety percent.  And as with all things Google, there is no rhyme or reason.  Nothing had changed on our site, but after the release of Google’s latest algorithm we started receiving much less love.

Fortunately, at the same time Yahoo decided they loved the crap out of us and really picked up their referrals.  Especially for the search queries of “squirting”, “female ejaculation”, and “sexting”.  Of which we have a total of four posts regarding those subjects…. Who knew?

Regardless, we still have tons of work to do in the seo department!

Strength in Numbers

I had a great conversation on Friday with John (of Swingercast) who is a fellow legitimate adult webmaster and also has become  a friend. …and not just because we got in bed with him and his wife either!

We spoke for probably about an hour about several major topics from “What the hell is happening over at Swingfest” to Google and it’s latest treatment to our websites.

One of the best conversations that came up was discussion about creating a group of legitimate adult webmasters to come together as a group to discuss challenges and strategies facing our businesses.

You see, as a webmaster who happens to have a website that carries a focus on any adult related activity or discussion, it becomes exponentially more difficult and requires much more persistance to have a successful online presence. The reason is the complete saturation of the “keywords” surfers choose to locate us in the search engines with deceptive, spam filled,  and low quality porn sites.

There are literally millions of those websites that Gentlenibbles.com and other legitimate websites compete with on a daily basis to try and move closer to the front page of search results in the major search engines. It is not only the numbers that put the odds against legitimate websites, but the organization and practices of these “crap” website’s webmasters further complicate the process.

Goolge, as great as they are, really seem to have it completely backwards when it comes to “adult” keywords and the bad guys seem to be the ones that have found a way to cheat the system.

….ok enough rambling

The idea of getting a large group of legitimate website owners is very appealing for several reasons.

1. Shared knowledge is a very powerful thing!
2. Group Strategy is way more powerful than individual efforts.
3. Getting to know a community of peers is fun and rewarding.
4. As a group maybe we can get the attention of some of the major players in the Search Engine World to take notice of a flawed system and help us find ways to fix it!
5. Most Importantly- Hopefully some of them are pretty damn sexy!

So now I am trying to work on a list of these legitimate webmasters so we can get their opinions as well as come up with a name for our little group.  Here are some thoughts

• ALAW -Association of Legitimate Adult Webmasters
• SEAW -Society of Ethical Adult Webmasters

I have a couple of others as well.  The point is I would like to come up with something catchy.  If I could come up with something where the acronym spelled something catchy or fitting that would be cool as well.
