Interested in being Featured on Gentle Nibbles?

Hello all you hottie bloggers!  We have decided to allow bloggers who are interested in having an article featured on Gentle Nibbles, the opportunity to be featured on the website.  Many of you are really great bloggers and are writing some great stuff, and we think more people should see it!  We also are going to offer you some prizes for contributing so please read on.

What are the guidelines?

1. The article must be a unique article written for Gentle Nibbles, sorry no cutting and pasting an article already on your blog. 
2. Email us at thenibblers@gentlenibbles .com and attach your blog post as a clean (.txt) file.  Basically just copy and paste your your article from whatever word processor you use into Notepad.  Then just save your article in notepad and send us that version.  Since notepad does not have any inherit bells and whistles it will strip any weird formatting your text editor may have added.
3. Please spell and grammar check your article before you send it.  We will proofread it before posting and try to correct any major mistakes we find, but for the most part we like to leave your work intact so will often include what we see as an error out of respect for you and your authorship.  Unfortunately, if there are too many mistakes we will either kindly send it back or just choose not to post it.
4. Restrict your topics to legal and ethical. (…ethical by swinger standards at least)
5. Please do not send us something that is just a promotion for a party or event that you are hosting. 
6. Although we have no length requirement, we do expect the blogs to be a complete article or topic and not just a few sentences of scattered thoughts.

So what do you get out of the deal?

1. Each article will include links back to your blog.
2. You will receive exposure to literally thousands of potential new readers and subscribers.  Gentle Nibbles receives tens of thousand of page-views each month by swingers all over the world. 
3. As a thank you for contributing to Gentle Nibbles, FSB, and the swinger community for any blogger that contributes more than 10 articles we will permanently remove the standard FSB advertisement that appears at the top of your blog.
4. Any blogger that contributes more than 20 articles over the next year will receive a custom designed blog theme for their blog after the publishing of their 20th article.

Just Completed Some “Major” Minor Changes to Gentle Nibbles

OK, I just wrapped up some “major” minor changes over at Gentle NIbbles.  What I mean by that is hopefully they are relatively unnoticeable to the average repeat viewer, but have potential to “break” some things I am unaware of at the moment.

The one I am most worried about is the font size change of the overall “body” content in the blog.  Either I am getting older or for some reason I just have been feeling like the blog is tough to read lately due to the smaller font size.  In an effort to make it a little more friendly I upped the fontsize from Arial 12px to Arial 13px in the CSS.

It is not a big change, but I think makes a lot of difference.  The worry comes from anywhere I may have text that will become to big for the space I have put it in.  It may have fit when it was 12px, but will not after the increase.  I looked through a lot of the blog and did not see any problems, besides the subnavbar which I overwrote in the CSS to stay at a 12px.   If you notice anything that looks “funny” over the next couple of weeks please give us a shout at: thenibblers@gentlenibbles.com

Other changes include:

Adding the RSS from The Daily Nibble to the bottom center of the Homepage.  This will be a good way to get updates about the site out without having to work up a fancy post.  I also hope this turns out to be a more socially rewarding piece of the whole “blogging” thing for me as I can be much more conversational.

I also implemented a much more professional look of the buttons in the “Gentlenibbles elsewhere on the Web” box.  They are standardized now and I think look much better!

I added a notice bar at the top of the blog that will be a good way to make important announcements.  Right now it is announcing the sign-up for the contest.  Please let me know your opinion on this bar, as I am a little worried it is too obtrusive and bringing down the look of the blog.

Lastly, I added a “Special Links” section above the polls on the right side.  This is where I can put links for special friends as well as Blog Directories and Toplists.  These toplists and directories give more traffic the more you give them.  I did have these links hidden on the “Blog” page where they were virtually ignored.  Hopefully now, readers can not only enjoy finding a bunch of new blogs, but will improve our rankings on these sites and bring us more traffic.
