Make Money with your Blog
One can not expect to become rich overnight by starting a blog or website, but over time one can use their website to generate a little extra income to help fund their Lifestyle activites. There are lots of websites out their that our built for the sole purpose of making money. These sites need help getting visitors and they are willing to pay for it.
Blogs are generally considered one of the best sources for high quality content on the Internet. For this reason readers as well as search engines love them. This translates to high traffic of a very focused set of readers. This is where ad placement comes in to help you make money. The term “monetization” is used to describe the part of blog development and it usually takes place some time after your website has been indexed by search engines and starting to recieve regular traffic.
There are a few different routes that you can go with your monetization plans.
Paid Advertising
First, and the most sure route to go is to place paid advertising on your blog. Sounds easy, but the trick is finding a company or entity that is willing to pay for that advertising space. Often when websites are new and have little traffic paid advertising is just not an option.
A couple of things you can do to increase your chances of finding paying advertisers are to do everything to continue to grow and develop your blog.
- Update your blog with new relevant posts often so that you can build your readership, thus making you more attractive to advertisers.
- Put together a marketing package for your blog describing the space you are selling and the price you expect. That way if advertisers come looking they can easily find the information they are looking for.
Affiliate Programs
This is a very common form of advertising done on internet websites from very small to very large. The concept of an affiliate is based on paying commissions for referring customers to the advertisers website. You place banners or links on your website that link to the advertisers website. The link contains a special code that the advertisers server recognize when the potential customer arrives on their website. Then if that customer should make a purchase, a commission a paid to you on that purchase.
Ad Server Programs
The largest of all advertising is done this way and you are very familiar with the largest company performing this service. That company is Google. They have a division call Google Adsense which places text ads on a website based on advertisers bidding for that space. It sounds complicated, but it is really quite easy.
The reason this is not an option for you! If your website contains any keywords that are of an adult nature Google will not place any ads on your website. As you can imagine, a swinger blogger would go broke waiting for a check based on this route.
If your blog ever grows large enough there are some other company’s that will work with you, but you are most likely a long way from there. Typically, you would need to be seeing over 100,000 pageviews a month to even be considered.
For this reason, we highly recommend researching affiliate programs. Nearly every company that sells anything online as them in some form or fashion. To find them search websites for a link typically titled, “Webmasters” and click on it. Often you will be taken to a page outlining their affiliate program and how to sign up.
But before you do all that work, take a chance to check out some of the affiliates we have used and recommend. We have taken the time to create a list for you right here!
